A Skinfluencer's take on Dr Roebuck's with The Roject

We know you love and trust Roj Torabi, AKA The Roject, just as much as we do, so we wanted her to tell you all about her thoughts on Dr Roebuck’s. We sent Roj a bunch of products from the new-to-Oz brand to try, test and review. Here’s what she had to say:

Hello literally everyone. Brace yourselves because I have a rather big announcement. No I’m not pregnant or married, but, Dr Roebuck's has officially launched at Oz Hair & Beauty.

Today I’m going to run you through a my favourites from each category and that might help you pick which product might be the one for you.

Let start off with serums. I have 2 picks.

Firstly, at the top of my list would be the Tassie Anti-Pollution Serum. This is an epic niacinamide product + more. While the niacinamide can work to reduce blemishes and clog pores, the serum has some Anti-Pollution properties that also work to:

  • protect skin from environmental stressors.

  • inhibit the effects of oxidation for up to 48hrs after application.

  • brighten the skin thanks (antioxidants!)

  • restore the skin to its strongest, healthiest state.

  • encourages collagen production.

My next pick would be the Ningaloo Copper Peptide Firming Serum. This is a serum that can work to improve skin texture while also being deeply hydrating. After you apply it, it leaves the skin with a healthy-looking renewed glow. Very cool.

I must say, colour wise, the serum is really appealing. It’s a vibrant bold blue in the bottle but it doesn’t come out that way on the skin.

Ok next up, the gorgeous Down Under Collagen Boosting Eye Treatment. This. Cream. Is. So. Impressive. Not kidding. Think of it as a rich, creamy eye cream that leaves the skin around the eyes feeling smooth and well moisturised. When you apply it, you do get this brightened feeling and that’s because it contains caffeine and arnica. See for me, as a person who doesn’t sleep, I must say that I did notice a difference in the overall tone under my eyes after I applied this.

Sorry, I was clearly too excited, and we forgot cleanser. So, let’s go back. My pick would be the Noosa Nourishing Creme Cleanser.

Think of this as a rich creamy cleanser that’s perfect for anyone that tends to have quite dry/tight skin. It took off the days face and leaves the skin feeling supple, soft and hydrated. A friend of mine who tends to experience dryness from eczema found that it even worked well for her skin.

Now up in the moisturising aisle my pick is the Nuddy Ultra Hydrating and Repair Crème. Dude this one is fab. It's formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Castor Seed Oil so think reviving, soothing and calming. It's great for irritated skin too. One thing I will note though is that this does leave a slightly white layer when you first apply it, this is however just the barrier, so you will notice that it will absorb quite beautifully after a few minutes.

I know my oil lovers might be reading, so let me give you an oil. My pick would be the Wategos Facial Oil. This is quite a fascinating oil in that it absorbs into the skin so quickly that you barely feel like you're even applying an oil. It's like it almost just melts into the skin.

Anyways, it's excellent if you are someone who wants to start out on oils and it gives you this immediate and long-lasting sense of nourishment.

Like with the serum, this one has a tint too, but this one is green instead of blue. The benefit of this is that is because green is opposite in the colour wheel from red, it's perfect for hiding any redness on your face, like pimples and acne scars because they cancel each other out. So tip - if you have rosacea, a colour correcting green primer will help hide unwanted redness and give you an even base for applying foundation.

Moving on, so yes, it also go great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and is interestingly named after one of Byron Bay's most idyllic stretches of sand.

Last but not least, I need to end on masks and because I'm on the hunt of endless brightening, my pick is the Daintree AHA Brightening Mask. i.e. an epic, easy to use clay mask. Basically, all you need to do is apply a thick layer of it onto clean skin, leave on for 10-20 minutes and rinse thoroughly with water. I’d say 2 times a week would be great (more or less depending on if you are doing other types of exfoliating).

This has a great hit of AHAs which work to make skin look and feel firmer, improve the look of dull/uneven skin tone and smooth out a rough and bumpy texture. It is suitable for all skin types, but especially dull and congested skin.

All in all, a very fun brand and I love that they are stocked at Oz Hair & Beauty - a humble business that caters for all our self care *cries*. I hope you found something you like! Let me know on my Instagram over at @theroject if you end up trying anything. I can’t wait to hear all about it.

Big love! X
