The deserts of Morocco are dry and inhospitable and precious little grows in these adverse climatic conditions. As you look around, however, you see short, wide shrub- like trees dotting the landscape. These are Argan trees and as unassuming as they might seem, they are the source of a miracle hair product called Moroccan Oil.
Moroccan Oil is typically extracted from the kernels of the Argan tree. As is the case with many of the organic hair products we use today, oil from the Argan tree has been in use for hundreds of years by the locals. It is renowned for its nutritional and medicinal properties. The 21st century avatar of this incredible versatile extracted oil is Moroccan Oil and it is used primarily in cosmetics. Argan kernel extracts, however, are incredibly hard to obtain. Argan oil, in fact, is one of the rarest natural oils in existence! Since Argan trees grow only in the deserts of Morocco, they are limited in supply. Sadly enough, Argan trees are hard to cultivate anywhere else. It seems they prefer the hot, hostile and desolate environments of the Moroccan desert! Moroccan oil, needless to say, is a very precious commodity as there is so little of it.
The oil of Argan trees is precious for another reason, one relating to hair care. Moroccan oil, you see, does some incredible things to your hair. For starters, it is incredibly light which means that you when you apply it, your hair absorb the solution almost instantly. The result is naturally obtained shiny, silky hair. Also, because it is light, it does not leave a residue. It’s perfect: a couple of drops onto your hair, a few runs with your hand and your hair are left looking like it was polished! It is recommended that you use Moroccan oil every day on tousle-dried hair. Apart from giving your hair a momentary shine, Moroccan oil also slowly repairs it.
